In science, Year 3 pupils have been learning about what a force is and that some forces need contact between two objects. The children loved exploring how forces work, especially when playing on equipment like slides, climbing frames, fireman’s poles, and hills. While sliding down, they felt the pull of gravity, pulling them downwards. Climbing the frame, they pushed against it, using their strength to lift themselves higher. On the fireman’s pole, the children experienced both push and pull when they slid down and climbed up. Finally, running up a hill demonstrated how pushing against the ground helped them go upwards. After the investigation, the children played charades, pretending to act out the different forces, while their friends guessed which force they were mimicking.
