We've been having a health kick at Browney this week with lots of activities going on in school focusing on eating healthy and staying active.
Reception had a session with Jeff, a personal trainer, where they found out that their heart beats faster when they exercise. They then had a fruit tasting session before using pictograms to see which fruit was the best - strawberries won! Later in the week, they created healthy food faces - they loved making them but enjoyed eating them more!
All children had the chance to visit the healthy bus where they learnt about: ways to keep their bodies healthy, diet and the importance of eating healthily, the dangers and after effects of smoking, dental hygiene, mental health issues and exercise and fitness.
Year 1 and 2 took part in a road safety session and a fitness session with personal trainer Jeff. They also completed work on healthy acrostic poems and wrote about their favourite healthy fruit and vegetables.
Year 3 and 4 loved their judo session with Master Steve Makin, a judo master with over 40 years experience, one of the youngest ever judo masters to receive an esteemed red belt (10 times higher Dan than black belt!). Liam, Year 4 said: “It was the best PE lesson I have ever had - learning all of the holds and throws was great fun!”. Steven said: “The coach was the best because he made sure we did proper warm ups before we started. I learned loads of new things!”
Year 5 and 6 took part in a zumba dance session and had a game of cricket on the yard.
We also had our whole school sports day on Wednesday - see pictures from that here.
