Over the past year, the world has collectively taken a digital leap. However, greater internet use also means greater exposure to online risks, especially for the youngest among us...

As internet users, we are all faced with the same dilemma: how do we make the most of the internet, while staying safe at the same time?

This week, Browney Academy celebrated Safer Internet Day, which focussed on exploring reliability in the digital world. Through our assembly, a range of activities and even a Guinness World Record attempt, our pupils used the day to become internet experts, from creating their own websites to being authors of their very own children's stories. Everyone at Browney Academy thoroughly enjoyed their Safer Internet Day experience.

"People are using the internet so much more at the moment," stated Niall, Year 6, "It's so important that we all know how to stay safe, not only when we are doing our work online, but also when we are using the internet to keep in touch with friends, which is still really important!"

The children's Guinness World Record attempt was a huge success, with many of our students making a pledge to stay safe online. We want all of our pupils to know that if anything at all is worrying you online or on your phone, tell a trusted adult like a parent or teacher - don't be afraid or embarrassed, just tell someone straight away!
