Our Year 4 pupils experienced a fantastic PE lesson last week, delivered by Disability Development Officer, Oliver King, from Durham Cricket Club. The session helped raise our children's awareness of sporting access for people who are blind or visually impaired.

As a Rights Respecting School, we know that Article 23 of the UNCRC states that all children with a disability have the right to access PE or any other activity.

The session helped our pupils to understand the visual impairment of their classmate, Olivia. It helped the group to understand how she accesses activities, meaning they can support her even more in future sessions.

Olivia said: "It was amazing for my friends to know what it's like being me with my visual impairment. It's great for people to know that having a visual impairment does not stop you from playing sports. I get lots of opportunities to play sports like football, cricket and tennis."
