Year 5 travel back in time

This week, Year 5 travelled back in time to the 1900s when they visited Beamish Museum.

The children started off their day by investigating the death of a young boy who had died working in the mines by questioning the residents of the pit village. The group used their critical thinking and speaking skills to discover the dangers of working in the colliery.

For the rest of the day, our pupils explored the 1900s town including an old bank, the dentist, the town hall and of course, the sweet shop!

Phoebe said: "My favourite part was interviewing people about the death of James White. I can't believe how dark and dangerous the mines were!"

The children had great fun and cannot wait to expand on what they learned at the museum.
