Last week was Anti-Bullying Week up and down the UK and we certainly had an action-packed Anti-Bullying Week here at Browney Academy.
Our entire school learned about the signs and effects of bullying, how to deal with bullying, how to promote kindness and celebrate our uniqueness. As a Rights Respecting school we know that children have the right to be protected from harm in body and mind.
Year 6 pupils decided to support the cause by being 'guardian angels' for each other. In secret, pupils pulled their classmates' names out of hats and promised to be kind, caring and encouraging to their chosen friend all week. To disguise who they had picked, the children were kind to everyone in the class. Later in the week, the children held a reveal party to see if anybody could guess who was their 'guardian angel'!
To finish off Anti-Bullying Week, all our pupils joined in their house groups to share their learning through posters, poems and even an anti-bullying rap! The children discussed with their peers and rounded things off with a quiz to celebrate their learning.
