Here at Browney Academy, we are proud to continue our work as a Rights Respecting School - a safe place to learn where all children are respected and can thrive.
Our 'Rights Champions' are responsible for coming up with new ways for the school community to learn about the rights of children locally, nationally and globally.
Yesterday, our Rights Champions have worked hard to design an 'article of the month' calendar with Mrs Martindale, linking each month to an article from the UNCRC and a core value.
The children took their job very seriously and carefully mapped out the articles to events already taking place in our school each month.
Linked with Harvest and World Food Day, the children decided that the article of the month for October will be article 24 - 'Children have the right to nutritious food, safe water to drink, the best healthcare possible and a clean safe environment' and chose 'respect' as the value of the month.
The children will learn about the article and value of the month through all aspects of school life including house group meetings, assemblies and lessons.
Well done Rights Champions - we look forward to your next idea!
