Here at Browney Academy, we are proud to continue our work as a Rights Respecting School.
This half-term, our Reception class have been looking at the UNICEF 'articles in action', which state the rights of children in a UK school setting.
This week was the turn of articles 39 and 19, 'you have the right to help if you have been hurt, neglected or badly treated' and 'you have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body or mind'.
On Tuesday, we had a visit from PC Claire Kerr and her police dogs, Jet and Ben, who are both labradors that support Stranger Danger and Internet Safety education.
They taught the children some very important lessons on how to keep safe, especially during the Halloween period when people knock on doors 'trick or treating'.
The children learnt to:
1) Always go trick or treating with a parent or carer
2) Only go to houses of people that you know
3) Never go inside a stranger's house
4) Let your parent or carer check the sweets you collect before you eat them
5) Stay safe and remember road safety
We would like all of our pupils to follow this helpful advice from our visitors.
