Healthy week 2018

We are all still buzzing with excitement from our action-packed Healthy Week last week where children enjoyed a host of visitors and fun activities centred around the theme of healthy living.

During the week we had visits from a range of health specialists including nurses, nutritionists, sports and fitness coaches, firefighters and even the police to teach us all about leading healthy, safe and happy lives.

Year 5 and 6 took part in Bike-ability training to develop safe cycling habits and Reception made delicious fruity faces whilst Year 1 designed and created their own fruit smoothies.

Healthy living starts with healthy minds and as part of our Healthy Week, some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a workshop to explore what it means to be resilient. This enabled them to consider the importance of mental health as part of their well-being. Reception and Year 2 also took part in some calming mindfulness exercises and talked about how to calm our emotions by breathing deeply.

Our sports afternoon was also a huge success as the children cheered each other on and showed great team spirit and determination.

As a rights respecting school, the children learned all about article 24 in the UNCRC - The right to the best health care, safe water to drink, nutritious food and a clean and safe environment.
