Children, staff and parents were left excited by the thrill of science last week after celebrating British Science Week 2018.

The week started with an exciting whole school assembly involving science demonstrations such as balancing drink cans, static b and bouncing eggs. The science buzz continued to spread into lessons and family members were invited into school to share the fun.

Our youngest scientists in Reception got to work and investigated which of our favourite chocolate bars float and which ones sink. Over in Year 1, they were helping the Easter bunny to solve a problem by finding the best materials to protect our much loved eggs at Easter time.

Year 2 planted herbs and provided a science demonstration to parents including how to make a lava lamp before asking parents to join their investigation to find Browney's best dunking biscuit! Our young engineers in Years 3 and 4, investigated how sound travels through string and air by creating their own string telephones.

Years 5 and 6 set up their very own science fair in the hall and explained the 'science' behind some impressive science experiments including floating eggs, walking water and balloon blow ups.

The children have been inspired by science this week and we hope this excitement continues to spread at home.
