Children in Year 2 went on an exciting Christmas journey last week at St Andrew's Church.
The children learned about the Christmas story first-hand by listening and talking to the characters. They travelled around different gazebos inside the church to meet the key characters of the story, who told them about what life was like at the time of Jesus' birth.
In the first gazebo, they met Mary in her home and witnessed the Angel coming to bring her the news of great joy. They then met the shepherds, who were watching their sheep, and tried on some shepherds' head dresses while they found out about their journey to find the newborn King.
They then met a wise man, whose gazebo was lit with lights and stars. He told the children about how his job was to study the sky and that he'd found a new bright star he was going to follow.
Then they watched the farm animals (in a very funny puppet show) discuss the very special events that had occurred in the stable that night - the birth of Jesus.
Finally, they talked about how Jesus came into the world to save God's creation and the true meaning of Christmas.
All in all, it was a lovely morning that the children really enjoyed, they especially loved making their Christmas crafts at the end. Well done!
