As this week is British Science Week, we have had lots of exciting experiments happening in each class.
British Science Week is an annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths with thousands of events and activities organised across the UK.
To start proceedings, our Reception class investigated what happens when heat is applied to food by making toast.
Years 1 and 2 went on to create beautiful rainbow swirls by forming a circle with Skittles and a secret ingredient… water! The children were very amused by this experiment which made science fun! The children told us that the color from the Skittles looked like it was “swimming away” with the water which created the beautiful rainbow.
Our bright sparks in Year 3 and 4 ‘switched on’ to their latest science topic - electricity. Find out more about that here.
The older children in Years 5 and 6 explored the world of light and how it travels. After learning how light travels from the sun and how it is reflected, we investigated the different ways it travels. We learned that it travels through reflection, refraction and in straight lines by making suburb periscopes and letting science back their theories up!
Well done to all our young scientists who took part so enthusiastically, maybe we have the next Einstein right here at Browney!
