Our adventurous Year 2 and 3 class went on a exciting trip to Durham Castle last week where they became kings and queens for the day.
The day started with a fascinating tour of the 11th century castle, that was built following the disruption of the Norman Conquest in 1066. This was followed by a creative session where we built our own castles and then had a competition to see who could build the strongest castle wall. Finally, we had a turn at posing as royalty and dressed up as kings and queens - take a look at some of the pictures above.
Mrs Ribchester said: "The visit has really inspired the class to engage with our new Cornerstones topic - towers, tunnels and turrets. Their knowledge about castles was brilliant before the trip but now it is exceptional. I think we can now say that we are castle experts!"
Huge thanks again to Durham University Outreach team who led the trip.
