Science Club!

At Browney, our pupils have become scientists, making fascinating discoveries, conducting hands-on experiments, and learning some key skills!

Egg-citing Discoveries:

The first Science Club was all about eggs! Pupils made predictions before working out how much salt you need to make an egg float! They also had a try at engineering by designing and making a protective case to protect an egg from a fall. They had lots of fun testing out designs and seeing which ones worked and why. What an egg-celent day!

Science of Colour:

The next Science Club saw pupils experimenting with colours: they mixed different colours to create news ones, and even made the colours fizz! Their favourite experiment was the milk colour explosions, where they placed drops of food colouring onto a tray of milk. They dipped cotton buds in in washing-up liquid, and then into the drops of colour, resulting in a display of swirling colours! There were lots of exciting reactions, colourful discoveries and plenty of 'wow' moments. Pupils had an amazing time predicting, investigating, and seeing science in action - right before their eyes!

Clean Hands:

The latest instalment of Science Club saw pupils conducting an experiment to investigate the impact of soap on germs! To help pupils understand how germs can spread, the children sprinkled pepper on to water to represent germs. They then placed their finger into the water and observed that the 'germs'  stuck to their finger, just as real germs can stick to our hands during the day! The excitement grew when the children dipped a finger covered in soap into the water. To their amazement, the pepper quickly moved away from their soapy finger! This reaction helped the children see how soap can remove germs and keep our hands clean. The class made careful observations and shared their ideas that washing hands properly with soap is one of the best ways to stop the spread of germs and stay healthy. The experiment sparked lots of curiosity and discussion, making learning both memorable and fun!
