Last Friday, our Year 4 children took a very exciting trip to one of the North East's most famous landmarks, Durham Cathedral.

The group took part in two workshops to discover more about Anglo-Saxon and Viking life to extend their knowledge of their new topic - Traders and Raiders. The children took part in quizzes, dressed up, wrote their names using Viking runes and even tried a spot of Viking weaving!

Most excitingly, the group had the chance to enter the open treasury to view some amazing Anglo-Saxon stones and carvings before visiting the incredible exhibition, The Treasures of St Cuthbert.

To round up their brilliant day, the children visited the shrines of two very famous Anglo-Saxon saints, St Cuthbert and St Bede who are very important to our local area.

Our pupils had a great day taking a step back into history in beautiful Durham!
