Year 3/4 get sporty!

Year 3/4 have had an active week this week with not one, but two sporty trips out of school.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr Vasey’s class participated in a mini tennis programme: the perfect introduction into the world of tennis. They made friends, developed skills and received expert tuition from Durham coaches, as well as putting their racquet skills to the test against other schools in the region.

All children tried really hard and finished second overall, with a massive well done to Ray W, Craig B, Ewan T, Ryan R, Katie C, Megan W, Sophie N and Evie G for their superb attitude and performance during the afternoon.

The second trip of the week was to Maiden Castle where pupils took part in the annual Zambia Run. It was a great way to get involved in some inter-school competition, and Browney came second overall. They ran a challenging fun run course through fields, muddy tracks and Durham University’s own athletics track, in a course that stretched over 1km.

The Zambia run is in aid of Durham University students’ Sport in Action work in Zambia.

Ray in Year 3 said: “This run was really hard, it’s so difficult to keep running fast for so much time, but we all did really well”.

What an energetic bunch you are - well done!
