Introducing our Rights Champions

Say hello to our new Browney Rights Champions who, alongside Mrs Martindale, have the important task of steering us towards becoming a rights respecting school.

The Rights Respecting School Award is an initiative run by UNICEF UK, which encourages schools to place the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of its ethos and curriculum.

Our enthusiastic group are busy coming up with exciting ways for pupils to learn about rights and have already got their thinking caps on to plan a day full of exciting activities for a special rights respecting day in the summer term.

We will post more information soon, but as a teaser, some of the activities will include designing a rights respecting mascot and a treasure hunt.

Are you up for the challenge?

Our Rights Champions are setting you the challenge of finding out your birthday right to get everyone talking about rights in the UNCRC (The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child).

To do this you need to find the article number in the UNCRC to match the day of the month you were born, e.g. article 15 if you were born on the 15th day of the month.

Lewis said: “People should respect everyone’s rights around the world and respect people for who they are.”

Eleanor said: “Children have the right to an education and it makes me sad that some children can’t go to school.”
