Glowing Ofsted report for Browney Academy

Browney Academy has received a glowing Ofsted report confirming the rapid improvement that our school has seen since 2014.

Inspectors were full of praise for us describing our school as a “happy welcoming place where pupils have every opportunity to thrive.” Leadership and management, behaviour, personal development and welfare and early years’ provision went beyond the overall good rating and were judged to be outstanding. They also praised staff for providing a well-rounded, balanced and creative curriculum. Parents echoed the views of Ofsted, with scores of positive comments sent to inspectors voicing their satisfaction with the quality of education on offer to their children.

The report highlighted many aspects of our transformation since joining the North East Learning Trust, including the refurbishment of the building, the deployment of expertise from the trust and the effectiveness of our governors.

Early years’ teaching was also singled out for praise, with inspectors stating that: “Early years’ provision is impressive and exceptionally effective… children’s books and learning journals bear testament to provision that is second to none.”

Our headteacher, Catherine Harris, said: “We are so incredibly pleased to receive an inspection report that confirms what we all know here at Browney Academy – that this is a wonderful small school. In recent years, staff have worked extremely hard to raise standards and outcomes for our children. Our sponsorship by the North East Learning Trust has enabled us to access the support and funds needed to improve the school and by working together, we have made it a place to truly be proud of.”
