On Monday last week, the whole school took an exciting trip to the Botanic Gardens in Durham to learn about different plants as part of our Mad Science week.

The 10 hectare Botanic Garden is set amongst beautiful mature woodlands on the southern outskirts of Durham city. Owned by Durham University, it provides an academic resource to the university for teaching and research, as well as offering educational visits to schools. Find out more about the Botanic Gardens here.

Students had a action packed day; den building, experiencing a rainforest environment, learning about desert plants, making a flower and of course, exploring the magnificent garden.

Shaun said “My favourite part was building dens because we sat in them out of the rain.”

Mrs Ribchester said: "It was a brilliant day and the children kept smiling despite the pouring rain!"
