Pupils at Browney Academy recently met one of their favourite authors Adam Bushnell.

Adam, who has had an impressive ten children's books published, spends time in schools and museums encouraging more children to enjoy reading and writing and to help them make up stories.

The day started with the Robins class where they created mythical dragons using similes and adverbs to develop the beasts' frightening characters.

Swallows, the youngest students at Browney, then worked with Adam to create their own superheroes and super villains.

There was also another surprise visitor in the form of Jet, Adam's tortoise. Jet came equipped, as his title suggests, with his very own tortoise-sized jet pack. Adam uses Jet as a visual stimulus to help the children get creative, much to the delight of everyone!

Catherine Harris, deputy headteacher at Browney said: "It was a wonderful experience to have a best-selling author in school for the day. Spending a day absorbed in Adam's world of creativity and imagination will no doubt improve the story writing skills of pupils and inspire them to read more in their own time."
