Browney recently celebrated Harvest with a special visit from Father Carl, amazing performances from each class and a donation to the local food bank.
Parents were invited into school celebrate with us and enjoy the performances including the first ever performance from our Swallows class - well done! Our Swifts class went the extra mile with an amazing performance of a song they had written, performed using boomwhackers.
Harvest festival is an event that takes place every year to celebrate the successful growth of food from our land. We celebrate by singing, praying and decorating our churches with baskets of fruit and food, which is usually given to those less fortunate.
At Browney, we donated the collected food to Durham Food bank, a charity that relies entirely on donations from the public to feed more than 1,300 people a month. Huge thanks to everyone who donated.
Headteacher Ros Parker said: "It was fantastic that so many of our parents and school community were able to attend. The children performed wonderfully demonstrating such enthusiasm and a wealth of talents. Due to everyone’s kind generosity we had a bountiful harvest to donate to the Durham Foodbank. Many thanks to Father Carl for sharing the story of the Harvest Mouse and leading the prayers."
